Psalm 135

verses 5-12

The Lord does whatever he pleases. He is great, and he is able to do exactly whatever he wants. He allows us so much freedom in this world, but he could wipe it out in an instant. But he doesnt. Because of His love for us, he allows us to live, even in the midst of our sin, with so much other sin going on, blatant blasphemy, blatant disrespect for a God that could with just the slightest of his breath, totally destroy us. He is patient and long suffering indeed. If I were God, my anger would not be able to be controlled. I would have destroyed this earth and never renewed it. Ever. But God has a plan that is greater than all of this. He is willing to withstand the sin to get to the greater plan. Even though He is allowing us to live as we please, we must not forget that our God is great, powerful and it is within His will to do to us as He pleases. We literally have NO right to ask of God anything, but to give thanks for His mercy in allowing us to live and show us grace. However, the Lord gives us this right to ask Him anything! Anything within His will. Of course we tend to ask for whatever we want, but He doesn’t punish us for this. The Lord is so kind.

He is King of kings. Lord of lords. The Almighty One. The Alpha and Omega. This magnificent Being. We have no right to live, yet He gave His Son for us to live. For us, sinful beings who think we run things. We are but dust. We are a wisp in the wind. We are nothing. But He considers us something. Beings that He loves us with His ENTIRE heart, and that we in return love with a portion of ours. We need to give Him more of us. But He lets us slide with the little and most times nothing that we give Him. He is an awesome God, worthy to be praised in all things, good or bad. As Christ suffered, so must we suffer.

Psalm 138
verses 6-7

The Lord is high above, but he considers the weak. He considers the poor, the lowly, the dejected, rejected and those in trouble. He saves them, and gives them hope and life. We don’t even do that in our culture. Who are we to despise those in need? To look past them and reject them? Who are we? We are nothing. God is everything, and He shows kindness to these people. We of all people, have NO right to shun others. NO right.

This goes back to the topic that we were discussing on Monday. Things the church has gotten wrong. People become so self-righteous in how they live at times. It’s incredible. But God still loves these people. We can’t even show the same love to people who need it most!! Yet we want God to love us! Incredible!!! I’m soooo guilty of this… I walk away from situations that will make me uncomfortable, I want people to like me. Yet if someone does me wrong, I’ll turn on them in a heartbeat. I’m scared of getting hurt. But the Lord gets hurt ALL the time. I’m sure not in the same way, but we curse Him, we reject Him, we hate Him. Yet He still loves us, regardless. He doesn’t stop loving us, as it says in Psalm 136, His loves endures forever. He doesn’t love us less, He unwaveringly loves us. We need to develop this same love for others.

1st Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres.

This is the Lord. He is the model we need to follow for how we should love.
